AIR International  |  February 2013
With so many helicopter gunships in production around the world, we launch a Major New Series on Attack Helicopters – the leading topic of this month’s 100-page issue. Part one covers four fully-armed, gun-totting types of chopper. In detail are the US Marine Corps’ AH-1W SuperCobra, Greek Army Aviation AH-64D Longbow Apaches, Russia’s Mi-28N Havoc and French Army Aviation’s Tiger HAD/HAP.
Operational stuff is also included with insight of missions provided by aviators from the US Marine Corps, Greek and French Army Aviation. Part two of this detailed series follows next month.
But what about all the other stuff in the latest issue?
We have flight-testing of the European A400M Grizzly, the shabby and stumbling US plan to finance the Afghan Air Force, Premium service from British Airways covering details of its forthcoming Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliners, French Rafales protecting a British Task Force, a sophisticated new-look from Germanwings, the rugged new generation Let L-410 NG, and the latest groovy in-flight entertainment systems by Thales.
And there’s more. We have a bunch of the very latest news featuring the last military Andover in UK service, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Ukraine’s An-70 now in production, India’s very first C-17A Globemaster, Chinese monsters: the H-6H bomber, and KJ200 Kongjing AWACS, the last airworthy VFW 614, China’s MA600 freighter and the first series-production, yet-to-be delivered EC175 amidst many other aircraft, helicopters and UAVs from around the globe.
