Airliner World  |  March 2023
Welcome to Airliner World March 2023. It’s 40 years since the iconic Boeing 757 entered service so we’re celebrating with a personal tribute to the ‘Seattle Rocket’.
We also pay homage to the humble Short 330/360. The commuter aircraft family was fondly referred to as ‘Flying Sheds’ and often ridiculed for its box-like appearance, but gained a reputation for being rugged, reliable and economical and made vital inroads into the lucrative US market.
We also head to Amsterdam to run the rule over Transavia. The Dutch carrier has spent most of its five-decade existence in transition, ranging from traditional bucket-and-spade charters to ultra-low-cost carrier, and is now facing another substantial change as it swaps its trusty fleet of Boeing 737s for Airbus A320neos.
