HAVE SUN, WILL TRAVEL..
Travelling to new sites to play with new airsofters and around new terrain is the best way to super-charge your enjoyment of the beautiful game we all play. Buying new guns and kit is always exciting and gets you buzzing to get out on the field but how about the feeling of heading around a corner and not knowing what might lie ahead of you? That's where new and unfamiliar sites really come into their own.
Getting to sites can be a challenge though, logistically it's a challenge to get up and down the country to places you want to try out, especially so, if like me you don't drive! Going on your own can be daunting so trying to co-ordinate a group to visit at the same time is like herding cats and with many sites using a capped upper limit of
players, getting booked on is also a challenge. Even though it's a real trial at times, it's still worth it!
Here in the UK we are treated to a great variety of sites all in a reasonably close locale frommilitary training areas to open woodland sites, purpose built CQB arenas to repurposed office buildings we have it all within about 90 minutes of anywhere, perhaps the only thing we don't always have is the warmer weather! As such the airsoft dream is to make it out abroad to see what it feels like with the sun on our backs and the warm wind on our faces... OK, maybe not so much the wind!
Travelling abroad is a daunting prospect though, much of the rest of the world plays at a higher power threshold than we do here in the UK plus the thought of taking a RIF through border control is enough to have you shivering with fear! We'd really like to hear from anyone that has travelled abroad to play airsoft, whether from the UK or further afield, to let us know their experiences so if it's something you have tried, drop us a line on editorialgai-mag.com to tell us about it.
