David Wheatley of Wheatley Antiques, who specialised in Chinese and Japanese porcelain and works of art, has passed away, aged 69, after a short battle with cancer.
He joined the trade in 1973, motivated to be self-employed, grow his hair long, wear jeans and travel the world. He did all these things.
Over the years Wheatley Antiques had a stand at all the popular markets from Bermondsey to Portobello, Barrett Street, Kensington’s Hypermarket, the Mews and eventually Grays Antique Centre where David’s wife, Linda Wheatley, still runs the shop.
