A £8750 portrait of a young warrior by Cheong Soo Pieng, part of a consignment of Singaporean pictures that were reoffered at Andrew Smith & Son.
In September, eight works by two of Singapore’s most celebrated 20th century artists sold for multi-estimate sums at Andrew Smith & Son (20% buyer’s premium).
However, a rogue bidder, who secured all the lots, then failed to pay up and the group was reoffered by the auction house on November 7.
