Must-have Christmas presents in the Sixties and Seventies, Sasha dolls have remarkable appeal today.
This was evident at Adam Partridge’s (20% buyer’s premium) December 14 sale in Macclesfield when two consignments from different vendors went to different buyers, both way above hopes.
Top lot was formed by two 16½in (42cm) dolls (right), which were estimated at £80-120 but sold at £3400. Both were in good but, significantly given the price, not perfect condition. The original clothing was slightly stained, the straw hats were later, the heads and legs were quite loose, the brunette’s hair was exposed at the roots and probably required replacing, and both suffered some minor scratches, indents and discolouration.
