Evidence of the shrewd taste of student entertainments officers at Warwick University back in the Sixties came at Batemans’ (20% buyer’s premium) sale at Stamford in the form of two concert posters. One, shown right, was a 19½ x 15in (50 x 38cm) advert for a November 4, 1967, Cream concert backed by The Paramounts. It was one of the first mounted to be held by Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker as they took the newly formed supergroup on the road.
The other was a similarly sized poster for a February 24, 1967, concert by The Move. This was an equally prescient booking made before Roy Wood’s group had their first hit in January of that year.
