Retro Cameras book jacket.
This is the twin lens Contaflex launched in 1935 which is described by John Wade in his new book on retro cameras as “a much sought-after collectable that is also eminently usable”. Using 35mm film, it was the first camera with a built-in photo-electric exposure meter which operates via a selenium cell under a flap above the glass viewing lens. Retro cameras are one of the selling features of this year’s Photographica fair, held in London on May 20.
