The personal archive of the most famous British hangman, Albert Pierrepoint (1905-92), is estimated at £25,000-40,000 in Summers Place Auctions’ June 12 sale, including a plaster cast of his face and hands.
Whether you’re in the market for mammoths or missiles, for 10 years Summers Place Auctions has been a likely destination. In 2008 SPA held its first auction, having been formed the year before.
“Our first sale was in May that year, which was largely just outdoor statuary, since which time we have built a 5000sq ft gallery [in 2012], as well as a warehouse,” says SPA director James Rylands.
