The world champions return to home town

Inveraray and District Pipe Band made a triumphant return to the band’s home town after winning the Grade One world title for the first time a fortnight earlier in Glasgow. Greeted by a crowd roughly equivalent to the population of Inveraray, the band arrived by bus with their latest trophy – the stunning Grade One shield won that afternoon at the Cowal Highland Gathering. Earlier controversy over road closure orders for the march was forgotten as the band paraded up Inveraray’s Main Street with the season’s impressive haul of silverware. Turn to page 17 for more.
