Poultry restrictions ordered over bird flu fears

ALL POULTRY and captive birds must be kept indoors under measures to deter the spread of bird flu.

The Scottish Government this week declared an avian influenza prevention zone in response to reports of a strain of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N8 which has caused deaths among wild birds in mainland Europe, mostly waterfowl. There have been no cases of this strain detected in the UK.
