Screaming bikes ‘put off tourists’ near Loch Fyne

NOISY motorbikes are giving Argyll folk and tourists a headache.

Cairndow resident and director at the Here We Are heritage centre, Christina Noble, has written to a local police chief looking for answers over the problem of bikes screaming past on the A83.

Addressing L Division commander, Chief Superintendent Grant Manders, Ms Noble points out the noise levels of motorbikes around the head of Loch Fyne on the A83 trunk road. In her letter, Ms Noble writes: ‘I assume that there must be a maximum decibel level allowed on A roads. I would be grateful if you would let me know what that is and also let me have an indication of the decibel level of heavy motorbikes at full throttle.’
