Seventy on stage for the 74th fiddlers’ rally

The Oban and Lorne Strathspey & Reel Society members are busy practising for the next Annual Fiddlers’ Rally. This will be the 74th consecutive rally since the society started in 1944 under the baton of well known Oban musician, Charlie Hunter. Their current conductor is also a well known Oban musician, Helen Jordan. Guest artists are Paul MacCallum, accompanied by Hamish Menzies, together with Rachel and Emma Deans. Paul is a Mòd Gold Medallist while Rachael and Emma are TV and Mod favourites and will add to the enjoyment of the evening. This year’s rally will not only include current members but also fiddlers from several Strathspey & Reel Societies across the length and breadth of Britain; from as far north as Caithness to as far south as Wales There will be a total of 70 musicians on the Corran Halls stage on Saturday, 28th April 2018. The concert will start at 7.30pm and for further information please see our Community Notice Board in this issue.
