ARGYLL, as many people know, is a place of extremes – one minute we are soaking wet and the next the heat is unbearable.
For the second year in a row, Inveraray was in the midst of a heatwave. The good weather certainly brought out all the revellers and helped to swell the gate. In the secretary’s tent, it was time for Margaret Mather to lay down her pencil and hand over the reigns to Deanne Hagan, who looks keen and enthusiastic to take on the job. Margaret has been in the post for 26 years and has been a stalwart of the games and keeping everyone in the right place. Next year, she says, she is going to enjoy the games and ‘actually see some of the events’.
