LOCHGILPHEAD’S golfers were delighted to finally see the sun in the sky and feel a dry course underfoot after recent inclement weather.
There was a good turnout for the junior April medal on Friday evening. It was won by Ruan McKellar with a fantastic 19 points, beating his brother Kern by five points. Saturday saw the gents playing their April medal, won by Liam Scott with 60 strokes. Not far behind was match secretary Colin Penman with 64 strokes. The ladies played the first round of their Charity Trophy. The winner of this round was Fiona McLeod with 19 points, beating Jane Hepburn by one point. Anyone wishing a game of golf at Lochgilphead Golf Club this week, is asked to avoid Thursday as the greens are being verticut. Anyone who fancies volunteering to help will be made welcome.
This week’s competitions see the gents competing over Saturday and Sunday for the Dunlop Stableford, while the ladies will be competing to get through to the next level of the Coronation Foursomes, with a bell start at 11am on Sunday. The juniors will play for the Wilson Cup, an 18-hole Stableford competition, on Sunday.
