THERE has been a reduction in crime levels and the number of fires across Argyll and Bute, according to statistics presented to a recent community services committee meeting.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s senior officer James McNeill presented the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s third quarter report to the Argyll and Bute Council committee, which showed a 36 per cent drop in the number of fires in the council area compared to the same period last year. Committee members also heard how the overall number of crimes in Argyll and Bute continues to decrease, according to the latest Police Scotland report.
When compared with the five-year average for the region, the total number of crimes recorded in the last three months of 2017 is down by 24.5 per cent.
