Arran’s MSP Kenneth Gibson met with transport minister Humza Yousaf at the Scottish Parliament last week and presented a total of 6,970 petition signatures collected by local SNP activists in support of keeping the ferry at Ardrossan.

Of these, 4,715 were collected on the doorsteps, in the streets and outside stores such as Asda in Ar drossan. The remaining 2,555 came in via an online petition set up by T T J Lambie of Brodick. An additional 1,300 signatures were collected in Arran and handed in to Mr Yousaf last Friday by Ellen McMaster whilst he was visiting the island, as reported in last week’s Banner.
