The Arran High School Mountain Bike Club has been shortlisted for the Scottish Mountain Bike Club of the Year award. In addition to this, a photograph of the club members out enjoying a ride with the sun setting over Holy Isle has also been nominated as a finalist for the Photograph of the Year at the same awards run by the Scottish Mountain Bike Awards.
Attendees at the awards’ ceremony in Glasgow later this month will vote for their favourite mountain bike related image and the winner of the Mountain Bike Club of the Year will also be announced.
The Arran club was established in October 2014 and has rapidly increased in popularity. What started out as a cycling group to encourage healthy outdoor pursuits has blossomed into a burgeoning club which operates from its own incredibly well stocked workshop which has not only offered cycling proficiency lessons to primary schools in the area, but through their mechanic qualification courses, has offered free bicycle MOTs to school children and the public at its open days.
