Peel Ports pledges an 18-month timescale for Ardrossan works

Regeneration project director Doug Coleman of Peel Ports attended Monday’s Arran Ferry Committee meeting, outlining plans for developments at Ardrossan Harbour following the decision to retain the mainland ferry terminal there for the duration of the next 25- to-30-year contract.

Mr Coleman noted that North Ayrshire Council would take charge of the ‘dry’ on-shore side of the terminal developments, allowing Peel Ports to concentrate on ‘wet’ improvements, including an extension and new linkspan for the Arran berth, and regeneration of the existing linkspan on the Irish berth, alongside other works, such as strengthening and protection of quay walls.

Mr Coleman stated that these works were based on an 18-month timescale and would be concluded in time for the arrival of the new ferry in the summer of 2018.
