Scottish Pride, owner of Torrylinn Creamery, went into receivership yesterday. The directors called in the receivers because the company was making substantial trading losses.
For almost a year Arran dairy farmers and the staff at the creamery have had to endure much uncertainty. This move increases that uncertainty over the future of both cheesemaking on Arran and the market for Arran milk. One secretary told us that when they heard at noon yesterday, they all felt disgusted.
