Cream teas are all the rage these days, but have you ever thought of having one on the top of a mountain?
Well that’s what the Arran Ranger Service had on offer for one day only last week. Ranger Corinna Goeckeritz explains: ‘The aim of our pop-up tearoom was to raise some funds and awareness for our mountain footpath repairs on Goatfell.
Walkers obtained a bottle of water for their tea at Cladach for a donation of £5 –to save us having to carry huge amounts of water – then got their cuppa and scone at the top. ‘Three members of the Brodick Castle gardens team helped us carry up a table, six camping chairs, six sets of china cups, saucers and plates, milk jug and sugar bowl, a jar for a posy of heather, a table cloth, the scones, butter, cream and jam, two tea pots, stoves, fuel and pots for making the tea, bits and pieces for washing up and about 10 litres of water.’
