Arran poets David Underdown, Cicely Gill and Tim Pomeroy have, of recent years, been organising exchanges with poets from other areas of the country by way of nourishing and celebrating the healthy poetry scene on Arran.
By bringing in other voices and by exporting the local timbre, the local poets hope to create a healthy coming and going of poetical voices.
Already, David, Cicely and Tim have read in Lancaster and London and, in return, Lancashire and London poets have read on Arran. In August last year, two moorland poets, Pam Brough and Roger Elkin, came from the Peak District near the town of Leek in Staffordshire to headline a successful reading at Altachorvie.
