An Arran group who provided riding for the disabled is being forced to close its doors at the end of the month.
The committee says it is ‘with sadness’ that it has to announce that the Riding for the Disabled Arran Group is being wound up. Founded in 2005 by Barbara Tinto, with bespoke premises at her home, Oakbank, Lamash, and affiliated to RDA UK, the group was staffed totally by a small band of dedicated volunteers.
Sue Tozer of the RDA Arran Group said: ‘Against the odds we managed to continue when the Tinto family left the island, securing the temporary use of a riding arena and grazing for ponies due to the generosity of local individuals.
