Pirnmill Village Association has received a helping hand from North Ayrshire Council’s Legacy Fund to create a memorial to honour the eight men from the village who perished during the First World War.
The council’s Legacy Fund provides funding for communities and organisations which are preparing to hold events or deliver activities based on commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.
Receiving £500 towards a plaque at the memorial garden – naming the brave WWI servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country – the Pirnmill Village Association will now, after eight years of fundraising, have a memorial for both WWI and WWII soldiers.
