WHATEVER you think about whether Charlotte Purdue should have been selected for the Olympics, it was good to see her react perfectly to the blow of missing out – by running a PB in Frankfurt (see right).
Like Alison Leonard (p8), she seems intent on leaving the disappointment in the past and doing her best to ensure selection in future.
Selection controversies will always exist, but the best athletes tend to bounce back from them.
Purdue – along with one of our other featured athletes this week, Joel Fearon – may have been hoping to have been on British Athletics’ funding list this week, but the annual autumn announcement sadly came too late for our print deadline.
