Dina Asher-Smith: first British woman to be European 200m champion
BRITAIN had never won a major women’s 200m title, but Dina Asher-Smith is the fastest Britain have ever had and took gold in style in a season’s best 22.37.
She had been equal fastest in the semi-finals but in the final the 2013 European junior champion ran a superb bend and entered the straight with a two-metre lead.
Two years ago, she pulled up injured in the final while fighting for a medal but, now older and stronger, she never looked like coming second.
