Jonathan Taylor: 13th in tactical final
AN EVENT that was mostly lacklustre and tedious turned out to be one of the closest and most exciting distance races in history.
Just six thousandths of a second covered the medallists as winner Ilias Fifa went from fifth to first with virtually his final stride.
The 2014 runner-up, Hayle Ibrahamovic, led for much of the race with 66 to 68-second laps and it was only on the penultimate circuit that the real race began. He completed the lap up to the bell in 59.96, although most of the pace had been generated in the second 200m.
