W 4x100m RELAY
LAURA MUIR didn’t set the first British record of the night as the women’s sprint relay team opened Friday’s proceedings on the track in spectacular style and after starting the race as outsiders for Olympic medals, 41.81 seconds later they became one of the favourites for Rio.
After being comprehensively defeated by the Netherlands at the European Championships, they bounced back with a time that was not only a British record by the large margin of 0.29 seconds but a sensational world lead.
