There’s no doubt that the concept of “family” is becoming more diverse. We’ve made huge strides as a society in recent decades to understand that the heteronormative male-female biological family idea of yesteryear is not the only representation of family that should be acknowledged. Families today come in all shapes, sizes, colours and forms.
Although more and more LGBTQ individuals and couples are becoming parents, the number of heterosexual foster carers continues to far exceed their LGBTQ counterparts. This needs to be remedied urgently.
