Knowing Leon Lopez quite well should have made this interview easier than most to conduct. He’s made a short documentary on the open-mic forum I run in London called Let’s Talk About Gay Sex & Drugs, which was shown this year at the BFI Flare film festival. We have potential plans to create other projects. But I suddenly realised I didn’t know much about the back story of this proudly out gay actor and filmmaker.
When I meet him for coffee, it takes a while to break out of the casual-friend status, and don the garments of interviewer and interviewee. I ask him to tell me a little bit about himself.
