When and why did you give birth to your alter-ego Yana Alana?

I was angry, anxious, depressed, lost and fragmented. I needed an outlet to express my personal, and universal, pains and discontent. As a performer, I wasn’t interested in the mainstream and wanted to devise my own work so Yana Alana was born. Yana was created at a Melbourne drag night, called Drag Kings, 12 years ago and she’s become a cult.
