Merry Christmas and Twenty Happy New Years
It’s hard to believe, but this is the twentieth time I have sat down at this time of year and penned my best wishes to all the readers of Big Carp with a message that I hope you will all feel is sincere and from the heart. In fact, I started Big Carp in the spring of 1991; it was bi-monthly then, and I seemed to have all the time in the world between each issue to go fishing. When I increased it to monthly, due to the unquenchable thirst for knowledge from my readers, the luxury of so much spare time was lost forever. Now, almost two hundred issues later, I am proud to say we have stood the test of time and will be celebrating our twentieth anniversary in fine style with a commemorative set of books, the Big Carp Legends that you all know about, and also a special anniversary issue in the spring of 2011. So once again, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and wish you all the best of luck in the pursuit of whatever it is your hearts desire. Cheers guys, may your next bite be ‘THE ONE’!
And so to this month’s issue, and as you have probably seen on the cover, there are some great competitions this month with enough tackle, bait, DVD’s and books to fill Santa’s stocking, topped by a superb holiday for two people in St Lucia, including some big game fishing, courtesy of Windjammer Resorts. So even if the weather is going downhill, here’s a reason to get away from it all. Speaking of the cover, check out the start Deiniol Roberts’ new series entitled ‘Tales from the Long Valley’, a title which I’m sure will not fool our readers for long, so don’t miss some classic proper English Lee Valley monsters.
