Cage & Aviary Birds  |  9-Nov-22
It's always a red-letter day when a genuinely new mutation turns up in this country and this week we meet the handsome black-face budgie for the first time. Budgerigar champ Sam Wildes performs the introductions, though he hasn’t bred the birds yet… only a matter of time, we’d guess! Handsome in a more robust way is our cover bird, the pied crow: a strapping bicoloured species that deserves to be much better known in the UK. Elsewhere we meet the subtle reed warbler – subtle in looks rather than voice! – and learn about the recent global convention of parrot folk at Loro Parque, Tenerife. Plus lots of canaries and zebra finches too.
