The prince of darkness may have had a hand in the cancellation of a live theatre show due to be beamed from London. Last Thursday, staff at Campbeltown Picture House (CPH), testing satellite equipment in advance of the National Theatre’s King Lear live stream, found it faulty.
In a text to people who had booked tickets, CPH manager Ellen Mainwood wrote: ‘We are absolutely gutted to have to tell you that we aren’t able to show King Lear this evening.’
Ms Mainwood added that two engineers, some roof climbing and plenty of swearing, perhaps in the manner of Shakespeare’s King Lear as he raged on the heath, failed to fix the problem.
