WEATHER conditions were so bad that no-one turned out for the morning ballot for Dunaverty’s January medal. Afternoon improvements saw some members tee off later. Despite playing very occasionally this season, Robert Irvine turned in a fine performance to take first place with a nett 64 and qualify for the Muneroy Cup later this year.
He finished two strokes ahead of veteran Sandy Watson who proved that age is no barrier to a good performance.
Result: 1 Robert Irvine 73-9-64, 2 Sandy Watson 76-10-66, 3 Alan Duncan 79-12-67, 4 John McDowall 83-14-69(bih), 5 Robert Allan Jnr 82-13-69, 6 Ken MacMillan 90-14-76. Robert had the best scratch score with a 73 and the CSS was 64.
