Prices upheld at Caledonian Marts first sale of the year

PRIME cattle of all classes upheld the prices achieved throughout December at Caledonian Marts’ first sale of the year.

There were 208 cattle sold on January 4, comprising 116 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 76 cast cows and bulls, and 16 calves.

Bullocks sold to 242ppkg for a British Blue from Todhall, Cupar, to J Hastie, Butcher, Markinch, and to an astonishing £1716 for a Limousin from South Flanders, Kippen.
