A GAMEKEEPER who forgot to sign his shotgun certificate was fined £125 at Campbeltown Sheriff Court.
Stuart David Downie, 57, of 15 Tormhor, Carradale, who works as a seasonal gamekeeper on the Dunlossit estate, was questioned by police when they attended a disturbance at Springfield, Shore Street, Bowmore, Islay. He was fined an additional £125 in relation to a firearms certificate, issued in 2012, for failing to inform the chief constable that he had moved address.
Downie, who pleaded guilty to two charges relating to his gun paper work, said in mitigation that it was an oversight on his part. Earlier the court was told that at 11pm on November 27 last year police were called to the incident in Bowmore.
