As the only member of the Macalister family to have been born in Glenbarr Abbey and more aquainted with our family’s history than most, I’d like to correct your correspondant’s remarks about our family heirlooms.

We have a beautiful ring in our family, that contains a lock of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s hair, which was cut from his head when he stayed with our ancestors at Kingsburgh on Skye, when he was fleeing after Cullodon.
