AS CAMPBELTOWN Bridge Club opens its 65th season the card game has been ruled not to be a sport, due to lack of movement, by a European court. Judges ruled, last Thursday, following an action by the English Bridge Union, that the sedentary game, enjoyed by millions around the globe, is not physical enough to be termed a sport.
Numbers playing in Kintyre have waxed and waned since the club’s formation in 1952.
