Fear for Brexit hit on whisky

THE COST of leaving the European Union (EU) is a major concern for whisky distilleries in Argyll and Bute, including Campbeltown’s largest, Springbank.

That is the view of the region’s MP, Brendan O’Hara, as well as Springbank’s sales and marketing director Ranald Watson.

After visiting the distillery in Campbeltown, which is Scotland’s oldest family-owned distillery, Mr O’Hara, who is also chair of the all-party parliamentary group on scotch whisky, spoke of his concern about the negative consequences that the UK leaving the EU will have on the industry.
