Cuenca becomes fifth Ecuadorian city to sign carbon footprint agreement

ECUADOR

Cuenca has signed up to The Cities Footprint Project, a technical cooperation programme that helps cities measure their carbon and water footprints and act on the results. The project is supported by the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network. It is facilitated by Latin American Future Foundation and implemented by Servicios Ambientales S.A., in coordination with the Municipal Governments of La Paz, Lima and Quito. Its initial focus was the three Andean capitals due to their vulnerability to climate change– especially in the field of water resources–but has spread throughout Latin America to Cali, Fortaleza and Recife.
