THE CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA
MAN WITH A MOVIE CAMERA
NINJA TUNE

Written alongside their classic 2002 second album, Every Day, some of whose tracks appear here in different form, 2003’s follow-up was a soundtrack commissioned for Dziga Vertov’s astonishing 1929 documentary about Soviet life. Far lusher than this suggests, it was recorded in two days on the back of heavy touring, when their grooves were tightest, illustrated by the frantic Work It! (Man With The Movie Camera), and their performances at their most elegant, as The Awakening Of A Woman (Burnout) attests.
