RAILWAY OF THE MONTH
SANKT JOSEPH
An idealised scene with standard and narrow gauge lines depicting Austrian rural railways in the 1960s reproduced in a compact HO/HOe layout by Davide Raseni.

PLAN OF THE MONTH
HIMMELREICH
Michael Kelleher was able to create his dream HO layout, a multi-level alpine setting with many personal touches.

FEATURES

SUPER-ELEVATION FOR FELDA
Martin Kirkham shows how he incorporated a feature of authentic track for smoother running and higher speeds on his German N gauge layout Felda (see CM July 2020).

TIMBER TRANSPORT IN SWITZERLAND – 2
Peter Marriott examines a common rail freight in Switzerland, as in other European countries. This instalment looks at the wagon types commonly used and shows how proprietary models can be detailed.

MISSION CREEP
Bill Longley-Cook reports on progressive developments to his American shortline On30 garden railroad since it was featured in the August 2018 edition.

COACH LIGHTING IN HO
Easy to use, and an effective result – Tim Mulhall shows how he augmented some typical modern coaches with a convenient LED light bar from TrainTech.

GARDEN AND GARAGE – 1
Philip Morgan has an O gauge layout which runs from the garage out into the garden, and hosts by turns a varied collection of early French and American stock.

THE ALBULA LINE – 3
A classic section of the metre gauge Rhätische Bahn: Yann Monbaron reports on an extensive HOm layout built for Pierre Denis. This final part looks at Filisur station, and reveals some of the hidden technical aspects.

Wow

Some beautiful pictures to look at and great articles Reviewed 22 January 2023

Continental Modeller

I model in the US. It is extremely interesting to see how Europeans model their trains compared to how we model ours. The model railroads chosen are always stunning examples of compactness and high levels of detailing. Reviewed 25 January 2021
