About Cottage Life

Get ready for winter with the new issue of Cottage Life. We’ve got your cold-weather bucket list, complete with 101 things to try, from fun and games to food and drinks, wildlife to wild activities. See the winners of our 2019 photo contest for all the best shots of the year. Take a peek inside a cool little EH-frame to get inspired by how the new young owners freshened it up on a budget. Then, go inside a glacier with adventure-loving B.C. cottagers—it’ll take your breath away. And, if you’re hosting at the cottage over the holidays, we’ve got easy recipes to feed a crowd with an all-hands-on-deck dumpling feast that’s as fun to make as it is tasty. You’ll also find 7 great picks for cottager gifts and plans for a simple sled-gear storage rack you can build yourself. Need some heat? If you’re wondering about the pros and cons of pellet stoves vs. woodstoves, we’ve got the scoop. Plus, we’ve got essential tips for winterizing and storing your batteries and answers to reader questions about appliances in the cold, cottage heating options, and how to cut your electricity costs, as well as what fireworks do to lake water, and whether you can hear the northern lights.
