1 Plan ahead for some fun…
We caught up with Tom Kerridge to ask him about Pub in the Park, his roving gourmet festival, for which delicious. is the media partner. The first one is in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, on 15-17 May
WHAT IS PUB IN THE PARK?
It’s a food and music festival set up to be the dream beer garden. Top chefs come and cook dishes for just a fiver.
There are chef demos, wonderful producers and some brilliant music. This year we have Marc Almond, Toploader and Rudimental, and, chef-wise, James Martin, Atul Kochhar, Angela Hartnett… and more! The festivals are family friendly. My little boy loves them - running around with his friends, trying new food, going to see bands - he’s living the dream.
WHY SHOWCASE PUBS?
They’re so important because they’re at the heart of many communities. We want it to feel like it’s a few chefs having a barbecue in their back garden - no pretentiousness, just great fun and great food. We’re doing it in towns like Chichester, Tunbridge Wells and Warwick to keep it small scale and community-based.
WHICH MUSIC WILL YOU BE DANCING TO THIS YEAR?
Craig David is coming to Marlow, and Morcheeba, a band I love from the early Nineties, are playing on Sunday.
Basement Jaxx will do DJ sets at some locations - they bring massive party energy.
WHAT WAS THE BEST DISH LAST YEAR?
Paul Ainsworth did an amazing fish finger-hot dog, ‘the dog’s pollock’. If he’s doing it again I’d recommend that.
