ROMAN HOLIDAY (1953)
WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
Princess Ann (Hepburn in an Oscar-winning debut) is the sheltered heir to the throne of an unnamed Eastern European country, feeling suffocated on an interminable, much-publicised goodwill tour of Western Europe. In Rome she finally flips and, after being given a sedative, still manages to execute a woozy midnight flit from her embassy.
