Curiosity plays a big part in my life in food. I lie in bed thinking about seasonal produce, new ingredients and exciting combinations. “Oh, yes,” I think, “that would work with that.” I have to put it all down… If I get up and run to my phone in the night, my husband knows I have a new recipe coming.
I write all sorts of poetry. Slam poetry, rhyming, short, long… It’s a release of thoughts and energy. I give myself pockets of peace, and poetry is one of them. There’s something wonderful about writing by hand. I refer back to my poems and it takes me to an emotion or time I’ve moved on from – they’re a bit like a diary.
