”When my mum first arrived in 1960s London from sunny Cyprus, the air was smoggy and the weather cold. After the initial shock, she quickly found work as a seamstress, met my dad and settled in east London. As we grew up, my two sisters and I enjoyed traditional Mediterranean cooking, with my parents entertaining us with stories of back home. Comfort food had real meaning and my mother, a fabulous cook, fed us well.
