I was brought up on curry. In LA recently a Mexican couple asked me, “How did you get used to the hot stuff living in Scotland?” I replied, “I was raised on vindaloo and madras!” Curry was the only thing that would get our family together for Sunday lunch. Food in Edinburgh is brilliant now, but when I was growing up it was fish and chips, deep-fried pizza – and good curry.
