food for thought.
MY PERSONAL WAR ON PLASTIC
I meant to have a rant this month about Ziploc bags and how we can’t seem to make them here in the UK. We really can’t. They don’t zip and they don’t lock, so they were one of two things I used to ask friends to bring me back from the States. But, really, do we, in fact, need any more plastic?
I’m trying to make my household as plastic-free as possible. It’s tough, it really is, but the recent news has been so sobering that I feel I have to. It’s not just the image of the seahorse clutching a cotton bud, or the plastic toy from a 1950s Sugar Puffs box turning up in the Arctic unscathed by its 50-odd-year ocean voyage. And it’s not just the thought that all the plastic I’ve recycled has ended up in landfill sites in China. It’s all of the above. And more.
